Για να τα καταφέρουν χρειάστηκε να κάμψουν την αντίσταση των Πόλας Κίτσου και Αρετής Τέζα επικρατώντας με 2-0 (20-22, 17-21) μέσα σε 43 λεπτά. BEACH VOLLEY CEV CHALLENGER 2009

Στην τελική ευθεία μπήκαν οι εντατικές προετοιμασίες για τη διοργάνωση του Διεθνούς Τουρνουά beach volley CEV Challenger Cyprus 2009 Γυναικών, που διοργανώνεται από τον Δήμο Γεροσκήπου και την εταιρεία Sun Atlantis Sport Events, σε συνεργασία με την Κυπριακή Ομοσπονδία Πετοσφαίρισης, μέλος της FIVB.

Στα πλαίσια αυτά έχει ήδη αρχίσει η διαμόρφωση των αγωνιστικών και άλλων χώρων στην πιο σύγχρονη και ειδυλλιακή πλαζ του ΚΟΤ στη Γεροσκήπου. Στους χώρους αυτούς, ολυμπιακών προδιαγραφών, 31γυναικείες ομάδες από διάφορες χώρες, μεταξύ των οποίων Ελλάδα και Κύπρος, θα χαρίσουν και πάλι ατελείωτες στιγμές θεάματος στην καυτή άμμο, δοσμένο μέσα από μουσική DJ και χορό από τη γνωστή ομάδα μαζορέτων।

Το πρόγραμμα των αγώνων του τετραημέρου, έχει ως ακολούθως: Την Πέμπτη 16 Ιουλίου, στις 10:00 θα διεξαχθούν οι προκριματικοί, την Παρασκευή 17 και το Σάββατο 18 Ιουλίου, στις 10:00 θα διεξαχθούν οι προημιτελικοί και την Κυριακή 19 Ιουλίου, στις 12:00 οι ημιτελικοί και στις 17:00 την ίδια ημέρα ο τελικός.

Seeded second in the 32-team Main Draw, Talita and Antonelli scored a 21-17, 16-21 and 15-12 win in 58 minutes over third-seeded Brazilian rivals Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca to share the $43,500 first-place prize for the 10th annual 1to1energy Grand Slam, the first of four-straight “major” stops on the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Tour following last week’s world championships in Norway।

Saturday’s gold medal win also snapped a personal five-game losing streak to their Brazilian rivals as Talita and Antonelli had dropped three SWATCH FIVB World Tour matches to Juliana and Larissa, who had defeated their compatriots twice on their country’s domestic circuit. For the silver medal, Juliana and Larissa shared $29,500 as the pair was also seeking their third international title this season after defeating Talita and Antonelli for the gold medal at May’s stop in Japan.

With the 1to1energy Grand Slam being the 10th women’s SWATCH stop in the Swiss Alps village, Brazilian pairs have now captured five gold medals. Two-time Olympic and three-time world champions Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh claimed five Gstaad titles for the United States (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007). Juliana and Larissa won a Gstaad gold medal in 2005 by defeating a Chinese team in the finals.

To defeat them, you have to eliminate mistakes and have a strong side out game.”
